GODDESS LALITHAMBIKA had instructed the eight VAG DEVIS — Vasini, Kameswari, Aruna, Vimala, Jayani, Modini, Sarveswari and Koulini, to compose the Sahasranama or 1000 names in praise of the Divine mother for the benefit of mankind – the benefits being long contentment in life and healthy living.
The birth place of SRI LALITHA SAHASRANAMAM is THIRUMEYACHUR near Thiruvarur. In this holy place Sage Agasthya seems to be initiated into this holy Sahasranamam. In the poorva baga of the treatise the hymns start with “Agasthya uvacha”, it is a conversation between Sage Agasthya and the God Hayagriva. The God exemplifies the greatness of the DIVINE MOTHER in the poem.
The 1000 names of the Goddess are known to the learned scholars from time immemorial and is passed on by generations to generations and our ancestors have been chanting with great Bhakti bhava.
It is believed that the more times you chant, the more benefits you are likely to get.
ABOUT OUR MOVEMENT
SRI LALITHAMBIKAYAI NAMAHA
With the grace and kindness of our Divine Mother, SRI LALITHAMBIKA, it dawned in the minds of our Founder President Dr. Mrs. SreeSudha to start a movement to propagate the 1000 names of Goddess Lalithambika with prayers for the wellbeing of Sarve Janaha.
Our madam thought it fit to make a confluence of like-minded Bhakthas by uniting all of us under one umbrella ” SS Groups “. Our motto is well established in the meaning of words SAHASRANAMA SANGAMAM AND LOKA KSHEMAM.
The Global Welfare is the main theme. Our ultimate goal is praising the Goddess with her 1000 names sincerely requesting her to protect all living beings, grant all their rightful desires.
Sahasranama Sangamam was conceived — was born in the early days of 2016.
Madam was organizing and conducting lectures, parayanams in the Sathsangas in and around Chennai to propagate the benefits of chanting Lalitha Sahasranamam. More and more followers started to attend these programmes. This encouragement gave rise to expand the theme universally.
The more important thing is that Goddess herself indicated Her presence, Her approval in many ways to our Madam in the day to day life, more thoughts of enhancing such services inspired, the true dedication started giving new innovative ideas for complete devotion and surrender.
The movement started to gain strength.
The total Namas (names) came up to 2,00,000 in the year 2016. It increased gradually.
200 to 250 members each were assigned in one group. In April 2018, there were 9 groups in total.
EARLIER PROCESS
In the beginning, the members were requested to do the SAHASRANAMA Parayanam and give the counts on every Friday till 10 pm. Later on, the time was extended to the following day, 10 a.m. then to 12 noon and subsequently to 9 pm to facilitate members from the overseas. This system got altered from time to time to accommodate members’ conveniences.
The Summary and the total counts were finalized with the concurrence of the Global Representatives and the HOR (Head of Representatives).
The namavali count started crossing 8 digits then swelled into a 10-digit figure amounting to multi crores.
Sri Lalithambika must have been happy and was pleased to give new ideas.
Chanting of Sri Vishnu Sahasranamam was taken up. Madam visited THIRUMEYACHUR to place the records under the lotus feet of Sri LALITHAMBIKA and did the Sahasranama Archanai.
EVENTS
The annual celebrations were organized twice in CHENNAI on 28-11-2018 and 25-11-2019. Many representatives from all over India graced the function, prayed for every ones’ welfare.
Madam had very well organized the different poojas as per Agama Shastras.
Another great achievement was to get a Panchaloka Idol of Sarva Karya Siddhi Lalithambika for our SS group. Now this AMBAL is worshipped with regular poojas and Sahasranama Parayanam.
We are pleased and grateful to Madam for organizing Sahasranama Parayanam campaigns at other places like Pune, Hyderabad and BANGALORE.
It was 9 SS groups in April 2018, whereas it has gone up to 15 SS groups by today. And we are proud to say that our members are from various countries. They take keen interest in the activities and parayanams and furnish the data on time, except a few cases of noncompliance of time and date.
In this regard it is not out of place if we record the great service of our ex-HOR, Sri Peri Surya Prakash garu, in following up and getting the required data under exigencies to keep up the time schedule. His sincerity and devotion to Sri Lalithambika is superb.
Let Goddess SARVA KARYA SIDDHI LALITHAMBIKA give enough strength and power to run the programmes to greater heights and let the devotees and members get blessed with Her grace.
